Important note before going further

I’ve now changed the focus to the last 10 gameweeks rather than the season

The first schedule ranks players by their NON penalty underlying stats and expected assists converted to FPL points in the last 10 gameweeks . Those who have taken penalties or are expected to be the penalty taker have an * next to their name

The form gives their ranking from the season/last 10 gameweeks/ last 5 gameweeks.  I’ve put them in seperate columns so they are sortable

The F Ease is the fixture ease ranking.

The value for money VFM ratio is the total expected points from their underlying stats divided by their price

The 2nd schedule shows their xG90 (expected goals) and xA90 (expected assists) plus their shots per 90 and key passes per 90.

There’s also anytime goalscorer odds.

I’ve already posted the defender rankings

Player values and PPMs are as of Tuesday 30 March

The schedule ranked by Midfielders NON penalty underlying stats over the last 10 Gameweeks

Here is the link to the google spreadsheet. You can go to file>make a copy and then sort it how you like. 300 mins needed to qualify. Underlying Stats are from the free site

A few comments

It may surprise you to see Sterling top of the rankings and also how consistently over the season he has been. He unfortunately has 2 problems. Converting his underlying stats into goals and assists and the fact that Pep has suddenly “managed” his gametime by only starting him in 2 of the last 5 PL games.

His PPM of 5.3 is way under what we would be looking for. However, given that he historically has had a finishing issue then it’s hard to say with any conviction that things will improve

Sadio Mane and Kevin De Bruyne

Both have PPMs lower than you would expect and both are underperforming their underlying stats despite a history of over performance. I would expect corrections from both as both have good volumes and just need things to go their way. De Bruyne has the advantage of penalties but the UCL could be a major rotation distraction. Sadio Mane also has UCL distractions and doesn’t have Pens but Liverpool have good fixtures until the end of the season

Bruno Fernandes

He’s not nicknamed Bruno Penandes for nothing.

8 of his 16 goals have come from penalties and in his last 4 games he’s only got the penalty at Man City to show for it and half of his last 10 games had pretty abysmal attacking output.

However underlying stats are one thing but the fact is that he’s scored 16 goals and 12 assists and has a PPM of 7.2. Only Lingard has a better PPM in FPL. He’s also incredibly highly owned and with Man Utd getting 14 penalties last season and 12 the season before here’s still potentially more to come from the penalty well.

I personally will probably be getting him in this week.

Jack Grealish

Has only played 5 of the last 10 gameweeks and although the stats are a bit mixed the volumes are good with the chance creation volume stats being exceptional. The overall season stats are also very good.

Doesn’t have the minutes to qualify for the schedule.

The £6.7m Liverpool mid has only started 7 games plus 5 as a pretty limited minute sub. He’s started the last 2 after coming back from injury. He scored in 1 of those 2 games and has 6 goals from the total games played. Despite the sub appearances his PPM is a very healthy 4.8 and his underlying stats are excellent and certainly not unsustainable given his Wolves underlying stats. The only difference is that last season he significantly under performed. This season he is over performing. I guess it depends on which you think is the real Jota.

It will be interesting to see if Klopp changes fomation when Firmino is back to fit him in. He has done it in the past but the current defensive issues maybe a factor in his decision now.

Like Jota didn’t have the minutes to qualify.

A team with WBA next is always going to draw a crowd and Havertz’s 2 games in the last 2 gameweeks have produced 2 assists and some very good underlying stats. However, everything before that in volume and quality terms of underlying stats have been nothing short of pathetic.

Is this the new Covid free false 9 positionally correct Havertz is the question you need to ask. Also there’s the question of Tuchel’s rotation and the Champions League distraction

Mason Mount

It’s worth noting that Mason Mount was 26th on the schedule. In terms of selection he’s started 8 of the 10 Tuchel PL games. H’s PPM of 4.2 is okish for the price.
