Here’s the team:

Building a team while trying to figure out which teams will go far is never easy. Inevitably there will be upsets.

The Netherlands look to have one of the easiest paths to the final. Their assets are also fairly budget friendly. Depay, Wijnaldum and Dumfries are the obvious choices

France also have a good fixture. However after Switzerland, as I see it, they would probably face Spain then Italy. I think those will be low scoring games. I went with 3 France, 2 of which are defenders and Benzema as the cheapest attacker who is on Pens.

Italy is similar to France in terms of a good fixture then very tough opponents. I also went for 2 defenders. However their main attacking force in Immobile isn’t too expensive.

Now comes the challenge as most managers in my position will have 3 Netherlands, France and Italy so the rest of the team is how you differentiate yourself.

  1. Ronaldo is such a good price. He can also score in any game. So he is in for me despite the fixture vs Belgium which is definitely.
  2. I think Sweden/Ukraine has a chance to be a high scoring game. So I took the best attacker from each, as they are also are a great way to save on funds. I will lose one either way but will ensure I have one playing filler that is the main man for their side going forward. Olsen is a cheap back up.
  3. England/Germany is hard to predict. I believe that if England go far it will be because of their defence. So I went with Stones for 6m. England’s attackers are quite expensive except for maybe Mount. Both these reasons means it makes more sense to go for a defender. With Germany, Havertz seems good value. So does Gosens but I don’t have a spot for Gosens.

My thought is, once Germany or England get through, they have a potentially good path, in theory, to the final. So having one from each team will be very helpful. I suspect a decent proportion of managers will fully avoid them all together.

Good luck!
