Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

GW29 review

A pleasantly surprising green arrow in a blank gameweek where my 8 man line-up had left me expecting some Overall Rank pain. Success hinged on returns from all 4 attacking players, including a nice double-figure haul from Transfer In Jesse Lingard. I’d been debating my move here all week following Son’s injury and part of my was tempted to keep him in, but there wasn’t really anyone else in my squad who I was keen to replace. Then there was who to bring in. I considered Bale, but was underwhelmed by his GW28 and Europa League performances so in the end went for the in-form Lingard. A 50-50 call that has initially paid off, though it does leave me a conundrum with Son going forward.

The other big star in the team was Joel Veltman. A lucky budget related Wildcard pick here (if I’d had the funds I’d have gone with Dunk) but again I’m happy to take the good luck I’ve had here! So into the top 20k for the first time this season – the tricky part now is staying here with no chips left to play. 9 gameweeks to go then and all to play for!

1 Free transfer and £3.0m in the bank.

The international break appears to have been fairly kind from an injury/Covid perspective and we’ve also had the announcement of a double gameweek for Spurs in GW32. Geek, Chris and I talk a lot about this on this week’s FPL Podcast but to sum up, my plan for this is to probably go in with only Kane and Son,. Therefore, at some point between now and GW32 I need to find a way to work Son into my squad.

My initial plan for this is to roll my transfer this week and then move Cresswell to Rudiger in GW31. This will free up the funds I need to move Raphinha to Son for GW32 – Leeds fixtures from GW31-33 are tough so I’m happily to lose him for a bit. I’ll then hopefully be able roll the other free that week, giving me 2 frees for the blank GW33 so I can sell Son again and another of my City assets if needed to make sure I can field 11 players. I hope that all kind of make sense. And of course, as always with FPL is subject to change at short notice.

As for this week, I’ve got benching dilemmas in defence and midfield. At the moment, I’ve got Lingard and Konsa accompanying Veltman on the bench but I’ll check clean sheet and scorer odds so this could easily become Cresswell and Gundogan! Some good Captain options this week too, but it’s difficult to see beyond Kane for me – I certainly expect him to be the favourite in Geek’s Captain poll. I do have some other tempting options. The Bamphinha combo face an ailing Sheffield United defence and heading king Dominic Calvert-Lewin faces the team who have conceded the most headed goals in the league. They are enticing choices, but I think I’ll likely just embrace my inner dullard and play it safe with Shield pick Kane.

So that’s me for this week, as usual I’ll post my final team on Twitter on Friday night or Saturday morning. Good luck folks and I hope you enjoy the games.

No transfer for me yet. Hope to hold.

Kane cap

Son the doubt but have held on as I think he plays. Considering a Wc 33 as my next move so hope to roll / keep 2 transfer for week 32.

A surprisingly great gameweek before the international break where I scored double the average for a healthy green arrow. Into the final stretch of the season now and I guess my goal is obviously finish as high as I can.

My priority for GW30 is to get Kane. He’s killing me every week and now that the double gameweek is confirmed it’s a no brainier to bring him in ready for it, and what better entry point than Newcastle! I had to sacrifice Antonio to do so who has served me well but Kane is a must now.

I really want a Chelsea defender not just for the West Brom game but for every week because they are a clean sheet machine. I see a lot of love for Rudiger but I’m a big fan of Azpilicueta even though he is playing CB he still gets forward to cross so I have chosen to bring him in for a -4 by taking Holding out (finally!)

As for Bale, if he plays then great but if not then Watkins will come in.

I still don’t know my wildcard and bench boost plan it will all depend on where the postponed fixtures fall. I’m just going to hold out for any more news.

Captain is Kane

Transfer summary: Kane and Azpilicueta in. Antonio and Holding in
